שׁוֹפָר שֶׁל רֹאשׁ הַשָּׁנָה
שֶׁל יָעֵל,
פָּשׁוּט,
וּפִיו מְצֻפֶּה זָהָב,
וּשְׁתֵּי חֲצוֹצְרוֹת מִן הַצְּדָדִין.
שׁוֹפָר מַאֲרִיךְ
וַחֲצוֹצְרוֹת מְקַצְּרוֹת,
שֶׁמִּצְוַת הַיּוֹם בַּשּׁוֹפָר:
The shofar of Rosh Hashana:
of an ibex,
straight,
its mouth plated with gold,
and two chatzotzros — trumpets — one at either side.
The shofar draws its blast out long
and the trumpets cut theirs short,
because the mitzvah of the day is the shofar.
