כָּל הַשּׁוֹפָרוֹת כְּשֵׁרִין
חוּץ מִשֶּׁל פָּרָה,
מִפְּנֵי שֶׁהוּא קֶרֶן.
אָמַר רַבִּי יוֹסֵי,
וַהֲלֹא כָל הַשּׁוֹפָרוֹת נִקְרְאוּ קֶרֶן,
שֶׁנֶּאֱמַר (יהושע ו),
בִּמְשֹׁךְ בְּקֶרֶן הַיּוֹבֵל:
All shofros are fit,
except the one of a cow,
because that one is a keren — a horn.
Said — Rabbi Yosi:
but surely all shofros are called keren —
as it says (Yehoshua 6):
when they sound a long blast on the keren hayovel.
