בַּתַּעֲנִיּוֹת,
בְּשֶׁל זְכָרִים,
כְּפוּפִין,
וּפִיהֶן מְצֻפֶּה כֶסֶף,
וּשְׁתֵּי חֲצוֹצְרוֹת בָּאֶמְצַע.
שׁוֹפָר מְקַצֵּר
וַחֲצוֹצְרוֹת מַאֲרִיכוֹת,
שֶׁמִּצְוַת הַיּוֹם בַּחֲצוֹצְרוֹת:
On the fast days:
of rams,
curved,
their mouths plated with silver,
and two chatzotzros — trumpets — in the middle.
The shofar cuts its blast short
and the trumpets draw theirs out long,
because the mitzvah of the day is the trumpets.
